About the work

partsongs (ISMN: 979-0-9002363-1-9) is a ground-breaking collection of music for small groups of vocalists, based on CoMA’s Open Score model. Each of the twelve pieces can be sung by almost any configuration of voices and all are suitable for amateur, student and professional singer alike, in classroom, workshop, concert hall – or even around the dining table. From densely-woven canons to Dadaist oral exams, delicate vocal soundscapes and deconstructed cocktail parties, this is a partsong book like no other, offering performers an extraordinary adventure through a fascinating and endlessly rewarding repertoire.

The works are:

  • Ecchoing Green by James Weeks
  • paper wings by Sylvia Lim
  • A bird in the beast by Michael Pisaro
  • Help with Adverbs by Amber Priestley
  • Lohengrin by Stephen Chase
  • CoMA Blues by Kerry Andrew
  • Atomic Choruses by Janet Oates
  • constant interchange of the most various kinds by James Saunders
  • Song (24.iv.1916) by Christopher Fox
  • Cocktail Hour by Catherine Kontz
  • Rounding by Cassandra Miller
  • Till experience teaches them by Michael Finnissy
